Friday Dances and Themed Balls
We continue a long tradition of fun social dances for our students. Attending parties is the perfect way to practice what you learn on your private and group lessons in a social setting. That saying “Practice makes perfect!” is true, especially within the warm, hospitable environment of The Ballroom Dance Center. Total beginners to advanced dancers are welcome. Our dances are also open to the public and are offered twice a month, usually on the second and fourth Fridays, at the studio.
The Second Friday Dance is from 7:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. and offers a chance for you to enjoy mostly Club Style and Line Dances including West Coast Swing, the Hustle, Salsa, Merengue, Argentine Tango, and Bachata as well as some Smooth and Rhythm dances included. Admission is $10 per person to the Second Friday Dance.
The Fourth Friday Dance is from 7:00 p. m. until 9:30 p. m. and begins with a free dance lesson from 7:00 p. m. until 7:30 p. m. At some of the dances, the dance card system is used where pre-registered students get to dance with the teachers on a pre-assigned rotation for the first part of the dance. However, our staff and instructors are always circulating throughout the dance to invite our guests to dance and even show them a step or two. Join us at the Fourth Friday Dance and enjoy dancing Smooth, Rhythm, and Club Style dances with some Line Dances thrown in for good measure! Admission is $10 per person to the Fourth Friday Dance.
There are also themed balls throughout the year that run from 7:00 p. m. until 10:00 p. m. Enjoy a free dance lesson, delicious refreshments, and dancing throughout the evening to some of your favorite dance music based on the theme of the ball. Admission is $20 per person to the themed balls.
Augusta Dance Challenge
August 14-15, 2026
Friday: 5:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. (doors open at 4:00 p.m. for registration/practice)
Saturday: 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. (doors open at 7:00 a.m. for registration/practice)
Friday night features club dance heats and solo performances. Saturday offers a friendly dance challenge with beginner to advanced pro/am and amateur dancing in Smooth, Rhythm, Standard, and Latin. Lunch is included. Following the day’s competition, everyone will have time to rest before returning to the studio for dinner and awards.
