Gustavo Marcelo Russo is recognized as one of the most prominent tango dancers and choreographers in the world. His professional career began in 1988, when he was selected by the legendary Juan Carlos Copes to be part of the “Tango Tango” show. This debut marked the beginning of a stellar career in which Gustavo soon took on leading roles, such as in 1989’s “Solo Tango,” directed by Eduardo Rodríguez Lozano.
Simultaneously, Gustavo worked in the most iconic “Tango Houses” in Buenos Aires: Taconeando, Michelangelo, La Ventana, El Aristócrata, L’Epoque, La Veda, Che Bandoneon, Señor Tango among others. These experiences, combined with his collaborations with iconic Argentine tango orchestras such as those led by Jose Basso, José Colángelo, Osvaldo Berlingieri, Julian Plaza, Jorge Dragone, Antonio Agri, Mariano Mores and the orchestra Sexteto Mayor, allowed him to deeply absorb the tango tradition while developing his own unique style that blended technique, elegance, and passion.
In 1990, Gustavo Russo took part in the “Argentina Tango Show” and In 1991, danced in the “Viva Tango” show, by Mariano Moreno and his orchestra, with which he later toured the United States Of America and Mexico, further solidifying his international reputation. From then on, Gustavo became a regular presence on the Argentine television show “Grandes Valores del Tango,” where he also displayed his skills as a choreographer.
From 1990 Gustavo Russo was part of the cast of Claudia Mores and Rolando Luque´s show, with which received the “Estelares del Mar” Award for Best Tango Show.
From 1992 to 1999, Gustavo was part of the original cast and later became the star of the international show “Tango Pasión,” touring five continents and performing at many of the most important theatres in the world.
In 1994, Gustavo Russo participated in th popular French film “Maigret Se Trompe”. In 1995 he was commissioned from Paris to take part in a show called “Paris, New York, Buenos Aires”. The same French production group specifically requested his participation once again in 1998 and 1999 as a guest dancer and choreographer for the 2nd and 3er Tango Festival of Paris. In 2004 he was presented as a star of that same Festival.
In the year 2000, Gustavo created and presented his own show, “Tango Seducción,” an innovative production that combined tradition and modernity, which was acclaimed in major theaters around the world. With this show, Gustavo established himself not only as an exceptional dancer but also as a choreographer with a unique, contemporary vision of tango.During the next 18 years he has been successful with his show.
In 2007, Gustavo Marcelo Russo worked as a choreographer on Dancing with the Stars Israel, creating and directing routines for celebrity couples. His work stood out for blending Argentine tango with contemporary styles, contributing artistic quality to the show.
In 2009, he created Tango Revolution, an innovative show that reimagined traditional tango with a contemporary approach. Along with his production Tango Seducción, he toured both performances on the most prestigious international stages until 2018, earning recognition as a director, choreographer, and ambassador of Argentine tango.
Gustavo Ruso´s Company perform in France, Germany, Austria, Holland, Poland, Greece, Croatia, Lithuania,Korea, Israel, United Arab Emirates, Brazil, Chile, Turkey, Taiwan and many others, acclaimed by the public in many of the major international scenarios, like the Olympia Theatre of Paris, The Opera House of Jerusalem, the Kremlin Theatre of Moscow, The Stad Halle of Vienna, The RAI Theatre of Amsterdam or the Chungmu Art Hall of Seoul among others, receiving the praise of the specialized critic for his incomparable and particular choreographic talent . This extraordinary dancer is also the world, renowned tango choreographer for his innovative concept of Tango as a show, his creativity in language of tango dance and his indisputable quality as an Artist.
Florencia Lucano is a talented tango dancer who began dancing tango at the young age of 13, starting her training at the José Neglia School, where she was part of the Tango Ballet.
From 2015 to 2018, she participated in the show “Tangos más Tangos” by Argendanza Ballet.
She worked as a dancer in tango venues in San Telmo and Caminito, and in 2019, she began performing exhibitions in Buenos Aires milongas.
In 2018, she started training with Gustavo Russo, who would later become her dance partner.
In recent years, Gustavo and Florencia have built a strong artistic partnership. In 2021, they were part of the teaching staff for the Tango World Championship, organized by the Secretariat of Culture of Argentina. That same year, they danced and choreograph together in the tango show “Notables.”
In 2024, they were the principal dancers in the production of the opera María de Buenos Aires in Milwaukee. This production, which blends music, theater, and dance, allowed them to showcase a more theatrical side of their art.
Currently, they are highly respected as teachers, and their show is in high demand. They have performed on numerous stages worldwide, appearing in festivals, milongas, and cultural events. Their passion for tango has taken them across the globe, sharing their artistry with international audiences.
Since they began working together, they have toured extensively across Europe, Latin America, the United States, and Canada, offering workshops and captivating audiences with their performances.
