10 Jan Reap the Benefits of Taking Group Classes in 2020!
If you’ve always wanted to take dance lessons, but you have never been able to find the time to pursue ballroom dancing as a hobby, wait no longer! The Ballroom Dance Center offers fun, affordable group lessons to fit your schedule and introduce you to the basics of ballroom dancing. You will also make new friends while gaining dance skills such as leading and following and navigating the dance floor. Did you know that you do not need a partner for any of our group classes?
At The Ballroom Dance Center, we believe group classes play a crucial role in your dancing experience and development. No matter what your level of experience, or if you have no experience at all, there is a class for you!
Every Monday at 6:30 p.m. Getting Started: Introduction to Ballroom and Rhythm Dance is being offered. This month the dance is Cha-Cha! It is a beginner level class, which will give brand new dancers a great foundation in footwork, musicality and lead follow. Over a five-month rotation, students will learn Waltz, Foxtrot, Cha-Cha, Rumba and Swing. One dance style will be featured monthly with material being cumulative from week to week.
Social Plus: Continuing Ballroom and Rhythm Dance will be offered at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. This intermediate level class continues the foundation laid in our Getting Started class with a five-month rotation of Waltz, Foxtrot, Cha-Cha, Rumba and Swing. This month a Party Survival Class is being offered. This is a great way to prepare for any special events you have coming up in 2020! Note that students may “stair step” from our beginner level to our intermediate class by taking the beginner level one month, and then move on to more advanced material in month two in the intermediate class. Material is also cumulative from week to week.
On Thursday at 6:30 p.m., Shag is being taught. This beginner level introduction to Shag will provide a foundation in the Carolina style of swing. Although new material will be introduced monthly, foundational material will always be reviewed. No pre-requisites are required with material being cumulative from week to week.
Club Style Dance will be taught on Thursday at 7:15 p.m. West Coast Swing is the featured dance for January. This intermediate class is designed for experienced dancers who have danced for at least a year, have a foundation in social style partner dances, and like a challenging level. Monthly, a different club style dance will be featured, and students will learn intermediate, sometimes advanced, combinations involving musicality and the development of partnering. The dances covered will be West Coast Swing, Argentine Tango, Hustle and Salsa with material being cumulative from week to week.
In addition to the adult classes offered at The Ballroom Dance Center, there are teen classes on Monday and Tuesday. Teen Competitive Ballroom & Rhythm Dance Class (advanced level) is taught at 4:00 p.m. followed by the Teen Performance Dance Class (advanced level) at 4:45 p.m. every Monday.
On Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. the Teen Social Dance: Introduction to Ballroom and Rhythm Dance Class is offered. This is a beginner level class with the featured dances for January being Cha-Cha and Waltz. A Teen Performance Class (beginner level) is at 4:45 p.m.
Not only is dancing fun, but it’s also good for you. Research shows that dancing is one of the few overall workouts exercising your mind, body and soul!
